ALL BLACKS!
THE mighty All Blacks have been given a lesson for once - after West Fife musicians showed them how to play some of Scotland’s favourite tunes on the bagpipes.
It was a day to remember in particular for 13-year-old piper Scott Young from Dunfermline, who was able to show some of the world’s top rugby stars a thing or two ahead of Saturday’s clash with Scotland at Murrayfield.
The Royal Burgh of Inverkeithing Pipe Band were drafted in to provide a coaching session with a difference during the countdown to the big game and took kilts with them so that the Maoris would look the part.
Half-back Andy Ellis, loose forward Daniel Braid and convert from rugby league, centre Sonny Bill Williams were all keen to try their luck.
Joe Locke, media manager for the All Blacks, said, “We’ve had a fantastic time. When they travel around the world the players like to learn about and soak up the culture and traditions of the different places we visit.
“Andy Ellis was a real dab hand at the pipes and it was like he was natural. “There was a wee fella playing and he was so good. It’s great to see a youngster perform like that.”
